Beanie Babies with a 1st Generation Hang Tag can be worth money, and as you’ll see below, sometimes a lot of money.

The 1st Gen Beanie Babies were the first to be released in 1994 and are to this day some of the most rare and most popular. All of these transactions come from eBay where there is still a vibrant marketplace for the popular 1990’s toys.

Be sure to check out a list of all the Beanie Babies with 1st Generation Hang Tags to see if you have one!

Important Factors

The Tags play a crucial role in determining the value of your Beanie Baby. 1st Generation BB’s without the Hang Tag can be worth a lot less then if they had the tags still attached.

Condition will also play a big factor, if there are any creases, wrinkles, or imperfections in your tags that can effect the overall value and price you’ll get on the secondary market.

💡 Authentication: Many of the Beanie Babies below have been Authenticated by a third party authenticator. For a fee, these authenticators will determine if your Beanie Baby is authentic and also give it a condition score. You will see Beanie Babies described as “Museum Quality” as this is a term many of the authenticators will use.

When the boom in popularity of Beanie Babies occurred in the mid 1990s there were fake and counterfeit versions that entered the market. It might be a good idea to authenticate your Beanie if it does have the potential to be worth good money. But if you are the original owner of your Beanie Baby, and are not interested in selling, then there might not be a need to authenticate it.

  4. I have a beanie babies collection and some sites say they are worth a lot and some other sites they say are worth nothing how do I know what my beanie babies are really worth and where can I sell them besides ebay?

    1. Prices for Beanie Babies depends on the tags. A 5th Generation Patti is worth .99 cents or less. But an authentic 1st Generation Patti might be worth $200 or more. I can’t speak for the other websites, I have no idea where they got their pricing. A Princess Bear was worth $1,500 in 2000, today it’s probably worth $2. So there can be wild fluctuation in the information that is out there. People will list Beanie Babies on eBay for sky high prices that nobody will ever pay and that feeds into a false perception of values.

Very, very, few Beanie Babies are worth hundreds of dollars.

eBay is the only active marketplace for Beanie Babies.

  5. What do you think I could even get for my two Pattis. Both are magenta(fuschia) type color. Both are missing the hang tag. One flush tag has a star on it and is PVC. And the other one has no star on the tag and is PVC.Look new…I have alot more as well but I see so many different sites and videos saying different values of each beanie baby. I even have a princess one, its the cheaper PE but it has a pale green stem with white flower that has pale yellow stitching. Also Magic the dragon with hot pink stitch in the wings instead of the pale pink.PVC. I wish I could find a legit place to know for sure of the values.

    1. Without the hang tags the Patti’s will be very difficult to sell.

Prices for Beanie Babies all depends on the tags. If it has PVC pellets, no star’s etc, that really doesn’t make a difference. A 5th Generation Patti is worth .99 cents or less. But an authentic 1st Generation Patti might be worth $200 or more. That could be where some of the confusion can come from because some Patti’s are worthless and others are rare and hard to find.

On this page I listed some links to help identify tags: http://lovemybeanies.com/sortable-beanie-babies-price-guide/

  6. I have a few first gen teenie beanies in original Mcdonald’s packaging and I can’t seem to find a consistent value on any of them. Any chance you could shed some light on their worth?

I have COMPLETE sets of the 1998 and 1998 teenie beanies, as well as four from the first generation promotion. (Lizzy, Goldie, Seamore & Quacks). All are in the original Mcdonalds packaging, with no tears or holes – besides Quacks, Seamore, and Goldie.

Values on the specific teenie beanies would be great, but I just need a place to look for a credible value.
Any help would be great. Thanks

    2. I am sorry for the loss of your mother. It seems we all collected Beanie Babies. I to have several tubs of brand new babies I bought to collect. Now what to do with them? I have thought of donating to police agency..as they give stuffed animals to children who were abused or in some kind of abuse situation. Something along that line…hospitals, homeless shelters, women shelters. Kids seem to be comforted by something to cuddle. Just some thoughts for you.. Good luck with them.
