Nothing obvious to check. It’s always been easy for me to tell by just comparing the quality to a known real one.

Hi Amber! After collecting beanies for years, I have definitely seen some fakes out there. The best thing to do is research on a case-to-case basis. For example, certain beanies with have specific generations of swing/tush tags, then there are physical traits to look for (ie. length of ears, discoloration etc…) Because there are well over 2K different beanies, it would be very difficult to give you examples of every single detail that you should look for. My suggestion would be to use websites and Beanie Baby collecting/selling groups. The seasoned collector will know exactly what to look for. I am part of one on Facebook that is great called “Beanie Babies Collectors”. If you ever have a specific question, there are tons of users on there that can help you out if you post photos etc… I also use TyCollectors.com for my personal reference, there is a bunch of information there but I use this link – http://tycollector.com/beanies/beanie-roster.htm

It seems to me that you have a site about beanie babies and keep commenting about how they are not worth anything, I smell conspiracy!! Value is in the eye of the buyer and from all the sites that you find them on it appears to me that they sell above the store retail price just about every single day?! even though they have been available for over 20 years. and in the past 2 years they have actually increased in price
