💡 What Makes Beanie Babies Valuable?

Condition matters: If the toy is well-used and shows noticeable wear, that will dramatically impact the final sale price.

Tags are critical: The Tags play a major role in determining the value of Beanie Babies. Not only do they identify the toy, but the condition of the tag will also factor into the value. Beanie Babies with no Hang/Swing Tag will not be worth as much as one that still has the tags attached.

Authentication: Many of the Beanie Babies listed above are authenticated by 3rd party authentication services. There is a cost associated with grading/authenticating your beanie, usually around $15-20 when shipping is taken into account. If you have a rare beanie, or a 1st generation one, then you might want to consider getting it authenticated to maximize value.

Beware of fakes: There were many fake and counterfeit beanies that were created during the boom of popularity the toys had in the 1990s.

  1. I have Boots from Dora the Explorer, but the tag is from Israel and the writing seems to be in Hebrew
never seen this before, is the TY boots an original ?

    1. Ty did make Boots from Dora the Explorer. Perhaps your version was one that was made with special tags.

  2. My mother died in 2009, my brother and I sorted thru the items left and found three (3) under-bed storage containers, very large ones, full of beanie babies still in the unopened wrappers, never handled, perfect condition. We talked it over and decided to donate them in our Mom’s honor. We called the local police department and made arrangements to deliver the containers to their office so they would have something to give to children who were in someway involved in any calls the police officers were dispatched on. I imagine many folks would think we were very foolish but I still don’t regret doing this. We aren’t to lay-up treasures here but in Heaven, I really loved the look on the faces of the men as we donated our gift and I am sure they received much joy giving them to a child.

    1. It is a great blessing I go to Goodwill indoor flea markets and Ty stuffed animals and drop them off at the fire stations because they take them on the ambulances they are small enough to carry several I was once in a domestic violence situation with three daughters and and they had stuffed animals for each of my daughters and they still have them today I give them to the fire department because they’re usually the first on the scene it feels good to pay it forward

  14. I have over a thousand Beanie Babies that I collected between 1999 and 2002. During that time I purchased quite a few that came out prior to 1999 and probably have many of modest value. I lost interest in collecting sometime in 2002 and put them in the attic. They are all in large plastic containers (perhaps 30?) stacked in my attic and they take up a HUGE amounts of space. I have some Princess Diana Babies that I have not even taken out of their boxes and about 15 postal containers that I have not unpackaged as yet. I also have about 100 Buddies to match many of the Beanies. All are in “Mint” condition and if anyone wants them, they can have the entire batch for $1000. But you will need a LARGE SUV to haul them away. I really do have that many.

  15. I have a Princess Diana Beanie Baby: Here is the tag information to help determine the value. It has a “Space” swing tag. It was made in China. It has a PVC Tush tag and PVC tush tag with (China). It has a factory number of 410. Can someone honestly tell me the value of this Beanie Baby?

  19. I haves Curley with several things wrong. Two ii in original on front of tag. Says suface clean and an extra space in poem. Is this worth anything. It is in mint condition.

    1. Gail.. if you check ebay.. like I was JUTS on.. you will see values for this and many other errors I just learned about.. price ranges $2800-$18,000

      1. Regarding the old face cranberry teddy 2nd gen, the inside (white portion) of the swing tag has some red around the circle. Would that have any bearing on the value? It is not authenticated.

        1. The tag not being in perfect condition has maybe some impact on value, but not that much if it’s not that bad.

  20. Hello, I have a few different beanie buddies that have tags that are in a heart shaped plastic container…example Dotty born in 1996. Is there any value?

    Thank you

    1. Hello! Beanie Buddies can have some value. Mostly in the $5-20 range. I would search eBay completed items to get an idea of values.

    1. Several million were made, as a portion of the $$ was donated. They don’t have much value because there are millions out there.

  21. I have doby, 1996 with style number made with PVC pellets believed to be 4/5th generation.
Also Scottie made with PVC pellets.
Lastly Goatee with Gosport misspelled any ideas as to what they might be valued at?

    1. Unfortunately finding 4th/5th Generation Beanie Babies that have value is like a needle in a haystack. Most sell in the $5 range.

  22. Hi there. I’m trying to get a price range for one of my bears. I have a ty mint condition Valentina with some errors. Gasport is misspelled, there is a space between through and !, there is 1998 on the ear tag and 1999 on the tush tag and there is no stamp on the inside of the tush tag. Could you help me please. Also if I wanted to get authenticity for these little guys who do I contact? Thank you!

    1. Hello! The errors on the Valentina are fairly common. I would think it’s probably worth in the neighborhood of $1-$10. It probably wouldn’t be a Beanie I would get authenticated, but the best option for that is True Blue Beans or Peggy Gallagher.

  23. Hello
I have a teenie glory bear, but the packaging has an error. He’s upside down and placed in plastic at the top of the package, over the name and statue of liberty, instead of at the bottom under all that. Just wondering if that would mean anything, selling wise. I have a photo. Thanks.

  24. I gotalot of the of thevmisprints on the babies i have millenuim, curly the peace bears both of them, mastercard bear halo bear , would like to sell them, but where…
